La Liga side Atletico Madrid have rejected reports that star player Maxi Rodriguez will be joining Premier League outfit Liverpool in the summer.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has already made a list of players he wants to sign during the summer and Rodriguez was rumoured to be on the list along with Swiss defender Phillip Degen who plays for Borussia Dortmund.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has denied the rumours that Rodriguez is on the verge of singing for the Anfield outfit.

He said that no offers have come in for Rodriguez, but we want to hold onto him for next season. We have no plans to sell him he added.

Liverpool manager Benitez is also chasing Rafinha, Kakha Kaladze and Luka Modric, plus several other un-named players.
