Hey, my name is Liam, and I first published 'Liverpool v Chelsea Preview' on 22nd April, 2008, within the Champions League section.

Ahead of tonights Champions League Semi Final clash between Chelsea and Liverpool at Anfield several players have been confirmed fit to play for both sides, so here is the team news.

Liverpool

Liverpool were concerned over the fitness of captain Steven Gerrard but he has been passed fit to play after missing the Premier League game at the weekend against Fulham with a neck injury.

Gerrard trained with the squad yesterday and was confirmed fit to play in the match by Reds manager Rafa Benitez.

Other than that Benitez has no fresh injury concerns apart from long term absentee’s Daniel Agger and Harry Kewell.

Fernando Torres who was on the substitutes bench on Saturday will start the match tonight along with Alvaro Arbeloa, winger Ryan Babel, striker Dirk Kuyt and midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea

Chelsea were also sweating on the fitness of oneof their key players, Frank Lampard. Lampard has missed Chelsea’s last two matches after his mother was taken ill in hospital, but has made himself available for the match tonight.

Chelsea will be without goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini who has a hamstring injury, so Hilario should step in. Striker Didier Drogba is struggling with a knee injury and could miss out as well.

Chelsea will also be without midfielder Michael Essien who is serving a one match ban after he picked up a second yellow card during Chelsea’s win over Fenerbache in the last round of the competition.

With tonights teams looking pretty strong on both sides it will be a tough one to call, their may just be the one goal to seperate it, but Liverpool will fancy their chances should Drogba miss the game.

Remember to check the live football scores page throughout the night to check the score of the match.
