Hey, my name is Liam, and I first published 'Football Results' on 1st March, 2008, within the English Premier League section.

Another Saturday passes by and another set of fixtures in the Premier League goes by. More shocks, more twists, more goals and more great games. Today we see three of the top four teams in action and also a relegation battle at the bottom of the league between Middlesbrough and Reading.

Arsenal played Aston Villa knowing that a win would keep a three point gap between themselves and Manchester United at the top of the table. Things didn’t go according to plan. Aston Villa took the lead when Phillip Senderos put through his own goal. However, in the dying stages Aston Villa failed to pick up Nicklas Bendtner, who they’d marked out of the game until this point, and he fired a shot past the helpless Villa keeper Scott Carson. This meant that the game ended in a 1-1 draw and that Manchester United could close the gap down on Arsenal to just one point.

And Man Utd duly took their chance. A fine display of free flowing football at Fulham saw them romp to a 3-0 victory. Goals from Park Ji-Sung, Owen Hargreaves and an own goal from Fulham midfielder Simon Davis.

Another of the top four teams in the Premier League was in action today. Chelsea were playing West Ham in the London derby. They were miles away from the title race at the start of play but three quick goals in the first 25 minutes of the game and results going for them elsewhere meant that there is still a glimmer of a hope for them. They beat West Ham 4-0 and had Frank Lampard sent off in the process.

In one of the matches of the day Birmingham gave themselve breathing space from the relegation zone as they thumped Tottenham 4-1 at St Andrews. Mikael Forssell was the pick of the players from both sides as he grabbed his first ever hat trick in the Premier League.

Last seasons two promoted sides were in battle today at the Stadium of Light. Almost relegated Derby against Sunderland. The game was nothing spectacular and both sides had chances to win it. The game ended in a 0-0 which is probably a good thing for both sides.

Blackburn snatched a late, late winner at St James’ Park as sorry Newcastle failed to win under Kevin Keegan yet again. They dominated proceddings and Owen could have snatched it late on, had he met Charles N’Zogbia’s cross. Matt Derbyshire did snatch it, in the very last minute of normal time. It was well and truly a smash and grab game for Rovers and Newcastle will be wandering how they didn’t come away from the game with all three points.

Middlesbrough and Reading, both near the relegation zone and both needing every point they can get. Reading won all three at The Riverside and they have Nick Harper to thank for that. His goal in the dying stages of the game meant they take all three points back down South with them and can look on with hope to their next game.

All in all it was an entertaining day football, incedently there was lots of last minute goals flying in around the country today. Could Arsenal have nicked a point that could win them the Premier League come May, or have Aston Villa done Man Utd a favour by taking two points off the Gunners?

Have Reading given themselves some confidence heading into the last couple of months in the season in their bid to stay up, or are Birmingham gathering speed and are going to lift themselves from the bottom four spots?
Only time will tell and only in the middle of May will these questions be truly asnwered.
